💡 Why Choose This Solution?
When fabricating 45° mitered edges (Jolly cuts) on hard porcelain or large-format tiles, warped tiles cause gaping, uneven joint lines in the center. Hand-holding is impossible, and suction clamps fail to provide localized point force. We designed and 3D-printed this clamp at J&J Tile Design to pull warped edges perfectly flush and lock them in position until structural adhesive fully sets.
🛠️ Professional Pro-TIP: Cover both the tile surface and the feet of the clamp with paper masking tape (e.g., Washi tape). Apply a drop of non-sag 2K cyanoacrylate gel glue (like Denven) between the tape layers. Tighten the hand knob to pull the joint flush. Once the main corner glue hardens, peel the tape off completely clean.
🔍 Expert Insight: Tested in J&J Tile Design on demanding jobsites. For structural corner bonding, we recommend using Tenax Titanium Extra Clear. The threaded knob gives you fine control to dial in exact pressure without cracking sensitive glazes.
✅ Key Benefits
- Pulls warped tiles (banana effect) perfectly flat on miter cuts
- Tape-mount attachment leaves zero marks or glue stains on tiles
- Smooth stainless steel threaded drive for micro-precise adjustment
⚠️ Important Notes
- Press paper tape firmly onto clean, degreased tile surfaces before gluing
- Tighten gradually by hand—avoid applying excessive point force to glass/glaze
- Keep the stainless steel threads free from stray epoxy or glue
Field FAQs
Will cyanoacrylate glue stain or damage the tile surface?
No. The instant glue is applied strictly onto protective masking tape applied to both the clamp and tile. After the joint cures, you simply peel the tape off without leaving any glue residue behind.
How many clamps do I need for a single miter joint?
For standard tile lengths, 1 to 2 clamps placed at the maximum bow point are sufficient. For long-format slabs (over 120 cm), we recommend using 3 to 4 clamps simultaneously.
How long should the clamp stay in place?
Remove the clamp as soon as your primary corner adhesive sets—for example, with Tenax Titanium, this takes about 10 minutes.
