Choose the Right Adhesive – Tenax Fixtop, Rivo, StrongEdge, Titanium and Polyfast in Practice

Tenax products are among the top adhesives and mastics for stone, ceramics and tiles. Choosing the right adhesive is crucial for strength, durability and aesthetics of the final work. In this article we will look at five of the most important products – Fixtop, Rivo, StrongEdge, Titanium and Polyfast.

These adhesives are not only used for bonding but also for creating the so-called Jolly Edge. In practice this means filling the stone corner with adhesive and smoothing it into a nice rounded edge. Not all Tenax products can be used in this way, which is why I created this article where you will find the exact use and specifications of each adhesive I use.

Recently, I have noticed that many sellers of these adhesives lack knowledge about their properties and applications. Before buying any Tenax product, it is necessary to clarify what and where you want to use the adhesive for, and based on that choose the ideal product for the situation.

Adhesives can remain open for a long period and do not have to be used immediately. It is like paint in a can: if you close it properly it will last the whole shelf life; if you close it badly it will dry out. So always store it correctly and it will last until you use it up – longer than 3 months as some sellers claim. It is also important to mention that all Tenax adhesives must be colored with Tenax pigments, not others. Using different pigments can disrupt the chemical bonds of the adhesives, which may result in different curing times, altered mechanical properties or reduced strength.

Fixtop A+B

A solid epoxy mastic with high mechanical strength, easy to apply and suitable for different material combinations. Fixtop is also ideal for creating Jolly Edge in matte colors, where its long working time allows you to make long Jolly runs at once.
Technical parameters:

• Mixing ratio 100 A : 100 B
• Gel time (25 °C): 30–40 minutes
• Tack-free in approx. 2.5 hours
• Applications: lamination, outdoor use

Rivo A+B

An extra strong epoxy adhesive that ensures a permanent bond stronger than the stone itself. It is also ideal for creating Jolly Edge in matte colors, where its shorter open time makes it suitable for finishing edges in short distances of about 3 linear meters quickly.
Technical parameters:

• Mixing ratio 1 : 1
• Gel time 10–15 minutes, tack-free 90 min
• Temperature resistance: –25 °C to +61 °C
• Applications: extreme conditions, indoor & outdoor

StrongEdge 45 A+B

Transparent epoxy adhesive, perfect for design joints at 45° and final Jolly Edge in glossy colors. Its processing window of about 30 to 40 minutes gives enough time for application.
Technical parameters:

• Transparent composition
• Fast curing
• Applications: aesthetic joints without visible seams

Titanium (Extra Clear)

Vinylester adhesive with an extra clear look, ideal for interior applications.
Technical parameters:

• Fast curing adhesive
• Extra transparent (suitable for 'invisible' joints)
• Curing time at 25 °C: 3–4 minutes
• Processing after 25–30 min (at 25 °C)
• Only 1% initiator needed
• Suitable for interiors

Polyfast Rodding

Polyester mastic for bonding reinforcements and structural elements, fast curing. Ideal for sink reinforcements.
Technical parameters:

• Gel time at 25 °C: 4–7 minutes
• Handling after 25–30 minutes
• Low shrinkage, high strength
• Applications: reinforcements, stone strengthening

Each Tenax product has its own specific use. Fixtop and Rivo provide extremely strong and permanent bonds, StrongEdge is ideal for aesthetic applications, Titanium for fast bonding and Polyfast for structural reinforcements. Thanks to this variety, you can always choose the right adhesive for your specific project.
